Hello My Name Is...
Welcome to a new school year! My name is Janelle Moran and I am the newly added third grade teacher. My family and I transplanted here from Indiana two years ago. Our children have attended Westar ever since, while I taught in Buckeye. I started teaching about 17 years ago in New Zealand where my husband is from, but moved back to the states in 2001.
This year in 3rd grade, your child will experience having all three third grade teachers for different subjects. Mrs. McCubbins will be your child’s Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Neugabauer will be teaching Science, and I will be teaching the grammar portion of your child’s English and Language Arts (ELA) grade. In addition, I am your child’s Math, Reading and Writing teacher.
Third grade is an awesome and exciting year! However, third grade will also be a challenging year, but in a good way. Your child will be introduced to new math concepts, more detailed grammar skills that will help in their writing projects, and dig deeper into their comprehension of their reading. It truly is a year of growing independence. Regardless of what the day holds, please take comfort in knowing that your child will be taken care of in my classroom and at Westar Elementary. I make a sincere effort that while my students are learning, they are having fun too. A few of the fun things your student will participate in are amazing fieldtrips, “Mrs. Moran’s Mini Economy” with bank registrars, classroom shops and auctions, and “Basketball Bonus Bucks Shots.” All of these activities will be more thoroughly explained in the next few weeks.
I am looking forward to an eventful, amazing year with your child! See you all on August 3rd!
