From our Health Professional Mrs. Willars:
We are currently seeing a rise in the number of students diagnosed with both strep and stomach bugs. Please remind your students to help stop the spreading of germs by washing their hands frequently and coughing into their elbow rather than their hands. If your student seems ill and you are unsure of whether or not to send them to school, please refer to this section of the Parent/Student Handbook:
“WHEN SHOULD A CHILD STAY HOME - A child should stay home when signs or symptoms of a heavy cold, sore throat with white spots on the back of the throat, persistent stomachache, vomiting, diarrhea, lice, a temperature of 100 or over, any known communicable or infectious disease, or a rash (unless a doctor’s note indicates it is not contagious). A child must be fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication before he/she can return to school. A child who has vomited or has had diarrhea must remain home until he/she are episode free for 24 hours.”
If your student is ill and you are keeping them home from school please let us know by calling the attendance line at 623 327-2848. If you have any questions you can always call our front office at 623 327-2840. Stay Healthy!
