Dear Comets Families,
Growing up in south Florida, I spent almost all of my waking hours either on a bike or skateboard; outside is where I grew up! We blasted around the neighborhood, eventually making our way to the only 7-11 convenience store to buy a Chick-O-Stick and a Slurpee. I know you may be surprised that skateboards were invented back then, but they were! I broke my arm on Three Minute Hill trying to showboat!
As this time of year rolls around, kids are excited about returning from their sleepy and hot summer break and occasionally there may be some showboating taking place! Add that to the everyday busyness and our community may not be used to being around children who have awakened from hibernating all summer!
Bicycles will be out in full force, as will skateboards and scooters. What does that mean to the average Joe heading off to work? We ask that you please be careful and watch closely as our students will be anxious to get here! Once we get a few weeks under our belt, the daily procedures we have in place will make more sense. Please be mindful of the speed limit around school as it can be a very costly traffic citation.
"Make it a great day or not. The choice IS yours!"
~Mr. Bogart, Principal
